Leeds Rhinos have partnered with CorMed-DX Ltd to double the amount of life-saving defibrillators on site on a Rhinos match night at Headingley.
Rob Oates, Commercial Director at Leeds Rhinos discusses the strategic placement of CellAED® devices around the Headingley Stadium, the partnership with CorMed-DX, and his experience of a Cardiac Arrest during a match.
In the UK there are over 30,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests (OHCA) a year where emergency medical services attempt to resuscitate the victim. However, the survival rate is low – less than 1 in 10 people in the UK survive an OHCA.
Every minute without an AED lowers the chance of survival by 10%.
Leeds Rhinos Headingley Stadium have several CellAED® devices. 1 is kept with the players doctor/medic at all times, with an additional 3 devices dotted around the stadium to increase the safety of all visitors, players and staff.
CellAED® – the world-first personal defibrillator, was created to make AEDs (automated external defibrillators) more affordable and easy to use for people with no medical training. Weighing just 300 grams and the size of a bar of chocolate, CellAED® can be carried with you or stored very easily.
